Terroir

Nature and winemaker in perfect harmony

The composition of the soil is the greatest treasure that the Leithaberg region offers its local winemakers. Together with its microclimate and the tried and tested methods of cultivation, Leithaberg provides a terroir of such unique quality that is unlike any other in the world. The conditions are perfect for indigenous grape varieties such as Blaufränkisch and the white burgundian varieties. This explains why such elegant and mineral rich wines of distinctive character are grown between Lake Neusiedl and the Leithaberg mountain.

The winemakers of the region are strongly committed to environmentally conscious viticulture and live out their traditions and passion for wine by vinifying wines with an individual and authentic character. In this way, the wines mirror local culture and the unique terroir found in the Leithaberg region.

Their philosophy can almost be tasted in the wines they produce: Leithaberg DAC wines are distinctive and typical of the region. Emphasis is put on wines produced from local grape varieties and the natural ripening process of wine.

Wines from the region spend adequate time both in cask and in bottle enabling optimal ripeness and development. They are wines to be discovered and thought about; full, mineral rich wines that are enigmatic and enduring– wines that are consistently improving without turning their back on local terroir.
